EU general-purpose AI obligations start applying
The European Commission confirmed that AI Act obligations for new general-purpose AI models would apply from 2 August. Providers face transparency and copyright duties, while models above the systemic-risk threshold receive additional notification, safety and security obligations.
Why it matters: Model documentation, training-data summaries, copyright policy and systemic-risk controls became operational compliance work rather than future planning.
