Granite Switch 4.1.1 updates speech and decisions without replacing its base
IBM released the backward-compatible Granite Switch 4.1.1 patch with a multilingual speech adapter that adds punctuation and capitalization plus updated decision weights, while leaving the shared chat base unchanged. Existing 4.1 deployments can compose the new adapters without a full base-model migration.
Why it matters: The patch demonstrates adapter-level updates as a smaller operational unit than replacing a full model checkpoint. That can reduce migration cost, but speech language coverage and vendor performance claims still need checkpoint-specific verification.
