GitHub lets Copilot code review approve pull requests
GitHub added an approval assessment to every Copilot code review and opened a public preview in which administrators can let Copilot submit a formal approval that counts toward required-approval rules. Formal approval is off by default, can be controlled at enterprise, organisation and repository levels, and can be limited by file path.
Why it matters: A model recommendation can now change merge eligibility rather than merely comment on code. That makes branch protection, path scope, review independence and audit evidence part of the AI control boundary.
