OpenAI previews Operator for browser-based tasks
Operator was launched as a U.S.-only research preview for ChatGPT Pro users. Its Computer-Using Agent could inspect screenshots and interact with web interfaces, pausing for user confirmation on sensitive steps.
Why it matters: It moved general assistants from answering questions to acting through ordinary websites, exposing the importance of credential handling, confirmations, recovery, and policy controls.
