Google publishes ERA and opens a scientific-coding tester programme
Google published Empirical Research Assistance in Nature and began a trusted-tester rollout of Computational Discovery. ERA searches literature, writes and evaluates scientific code, and explores candidate approaches with tree search; Google also released code and manuscripts from eight application projects.
Why it matters: Scientific agents are being evaluated on executable empirical work across domains, not only literature summaries or benchmark questions.
