Google launches Gemini-powered Sheets canvas for read-write mini-apps
Google launched Sheets canvas, a Gemini-powered layer that turns spreadsheet data into interactive dashboards, Kanban boards, whiteboards, and other read-write mini-apps from natural-language prompts. Canvas and source-sheet changes synchronize in both directions and retain the sheet's sharing settings.
Why it matters: Teams can place a task-specific interface over an existing spreadsheet without writing an app, but bidirectional writes mean generated logic and permissions can directly alter operational source data.
