Google Home opens smart-home control to MCP agents

Google opened an early-access Home MCP server that lets compatible clients inspect homes, devices and states, run supported device actions and query history through OAuth 2.0. Google documents Antigravity, Claude Cowork and OpenClaw clients, applies rate and safety limits, and blocks some sensitive actions such as unlocking doors.

Why it matters: A general-purpose AI client can now cross from conversation into physical devices and household history. Identity, occupant consent, device scope and the difference between a requested and completed action become safety-critical controls.
