EC2 AMIs can now block incompatible instance types at launch
AWS now lets AMI owners declare supported and unsupported EC2 instance types, including wildcard families. EC2 enforces the specification as a hard launch-time block, allowing a GPU-dependent inference image to reject CPU-only or otherwise incompatible instance selections.
Why it matters: The control moves hardware compatibility from documentation into enforcement, reducing silent misconfiguration while creating a new failure mode for launch templates and Auto Scaling groups.
