Gemini adds agentic video understanding to three Flash models
Google launched an agentic video-processing mode for Gemini 3.7 Flash, 3.6 Flash and 3.5 Flash-Lite. Instead of sampling an entire video at one fixed frame rate, the model can selectively inspect frames, audio and transcripts. The mode is available for uploaded and YouTube video through the Gemini API and Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform at standard token pricing.
Why it matters: Selective inspection can make multi-hour video search, event retrieval and anomaly analysis cheaper and more precise than uniform sampling. It also moves frame selection into the model's tool loop, creating a new source of missed evidence that must be tested.
