OpenAI launched Prism, a free browser-based LaTeX workspace powered by GPT-5.2 for drafting, revising, searching literature, managing citations and converting equations or whiteboard material into structured documents. It offered unlimited projects and collaborators to personal ChatGPT accounts, with organization support planned.
Why it matters: The important shift is from asking a model for prose to embedding it inside the artifact, citation and collaboration loop. A domain-native workspace can preserve equations, references and document structure better than copying text out of chat.
