Reflection opens Beam for long-horizon coding agents
Reflection released Beam 1.0, a text-only mixture-of-experts model with 501B total and 23B active parameters, one-million-token claimed context, Apache-2.0 BF16, FP8 and NVFP4 checkpoints, tool use and a separate DFlash2 speculative-decoding model. AWS added managed JumpStart deployment in two US regions and documented HyperPod, SGLang and vLLM paths.
Why it matters: Teams can inspect, customize and self-host a large agentic coding model instead of depending on a single API. The weights are genuinely usable, but the checkpoint size makes serving architecture, GPU quota, context limits and cost part of the model decision.
