Meta releases Muse Glimmer 30B for local multimodal agents
Meta released Muse Glimmer, a 30-billion-parameter model with a dedicated perception encoder, under Apache 2.0. It targets always-on local agents with text-and-image input, multi-step reasoning, function calling, failure recovery, configurable reasoning effort, and support for more than 100 languages.
Why it matters: A downloadable agent model sized for a single consumer GPU gives teams a path to run tool-using and context-sensitive workflows without making a cloud endpoint the default trust boundary.
