What changed
GitHub made its Copilot cloud agent integration for Linear generally available. Assigning an issue launches an ephemeral GitHub Actions environment, streams progress back to Linear and returns a draft pull request for review.
Why it matters
Async coding agents are moving into the planning system where work starts, making issue quality, branch boundaries and review policy part of the agent interface.
What to do
Pilot on low-risk maintenance issues. Pin the base branch, restrict permissions, require draft pull requests and compare accepted changes with reverted or abandoned attempts.
Caveat
The integration requires paid Copilot access and administrative installation. An ephemeral environment limits persistence but does not make generated code safe to merge.
